Printing Tips
Bring your designs to life with a clean, professional finish that does your vision justice.
PRINTING AT HOME
Home printing is a great option for small batches and everyday projects. For the best results:
- Use high-quality paper or cardstock appropriate for your project
- Select your printer's Best or High Quality print setting when available
- Make sure the correct paper size and orientation are selected before printing
- Print at Actual Size or 100% scale when accurate dimensions are important
- Allow printed pieces to dry completely before cutting, folding, or assembling
- Print one test copy before producing multiple pieces
USING A LOCAL PRINT SHOP
A professional print shop is a great option for larger quantities or when you want a more polished finish.
Before printing, ask your print provider about:
- Recommended paper or cardstock for your specific project
- Available paper weights, finishes, and sizes
- Matte or glossy finishes based on your desired look
- Bleed and crop-mark requirements
- Preferred file format and submission specifications
For many paper-based projects, 65–110 lb cardstock may be appropriate, but requirements can vary by project and printer. Always confirm specifications with your chosen print provider before ordering.
ONLINE PRINTING SERVICES
Online printing services can be a convenient option for larger quantities or specialty projects delivered directly to your door.
Before placing an order, review the provider's:
- File-format requirements
- Recommended dimensions and resolution
- Bleed and safe-area specifications
- Paper and finishing options
- Production and delivery timeframes
For specialty items such as party favors, search for a printing provider experienced with the type of product you are creating.
ASSEMBLY TIPS
- Use double-sided tape or an appropriate clear adhesive for a clean finish
- Use precision scissors, a paper trimmer, or a compatible craft-cutting machine for clean edges
- Follow score or fold lines carefully when included in the design
- Assemble one sample first before completing an entire batch
- Allow adhesives and printed surfaces to set or dry fully before packaging finished items
BEFORE PRINTING
For the best results, take a moment to review your finished design:
- Check all spelling, names, dates, and personalization
- Confirm the finished dimensions and page orientation
- Make sure photos and uploaded graphics appear clear
- Verify that important text and design elements are positioned safely away from trim edges
- Review your printer or print provider's specifications before submitting your file
Please note that colors may vary slightly between your screen and the finished printed product due to differences in monitors, printers, inks, paper, and printing methods.
